Deep River gets website refresh

Deep River Friends Meeting is pleased to announce the launch of our newly-redesigned website, deepriverfriends.com. This website refresh aimed to better meet the needs of our members, attenders and visitors.

We hope the new design will make for a better online experience.

New Features

homepage-mobileThe newly-redesigned deepriverfriends.com brings features to help our members, attenders and visitors learn more about what’s happening at Deep River.

Here are some of our new features to give you a better online experience:

Mobile-responsive: The new website features a mobile-friendly design. This means that visitors to our website using a cell phone or tablet will have a more mobile-responsive experience, ultimately making navigation quicker, easier and much more intuitive.

Homepage Hub: The homepage now features buttons to some of the website’s most-visited pages, including information about events, news, sermons, prayer requests, message board and our new online giving page.

Our History & Quaker Beliefs: These pages tell the story of Deep River. This is who we are, where we come from and where we are going. Learn more about our meeting and about Quakers on these pages.

Prayer Requests: There is a prayer request page on our website. Visitors can submit their requests to Deep River to be displayed on the website and prayed for. Each request is moderated by prayer admins before being posted to the site. These requests are generally submitted by members and attenders of Deep River.

Message Board: The message board is a place for members and attenders to post news related to the Deep River community. These messages are also moderated after submission.

Sermonssermons: Audio from each sermon is featured in its own post. Visitors can listen to the audio from their desktop or mobile devices with the click of a button. Sermons can also be downloaded by visitors to be played later, or visitors can subscribe to our podcasts through iTunes or Google Play. Sermons are also tagged by speaker, topic, month and year.

Cemetery: Information about the historic Deep River cemetery can be found on this page including a cemetery database and contact information for Memorial Association officers.

Online Giving: The online giving page on our site offers a more convenient way for members and attenders to give to Deep River Friends Meeting. This electronic giving module offers the ability to do a one-time, quick-give donation or set up for recurring gifts.

Events: Events are displayed in a grid format so visitors can see upcoming events, dates, times and any other information necessary. Visitors can click a “directions” button to receive Google Maps directions to the event.

News: The news page on the website features many of the items which appear in the bulletin each Sunday morning. Miss a Sunday? Don’t worry! Listen to a sermon and check out the news section of deepriverfriends.com to stay connected.

Staff Directory: The staff directory features the bios, contact emails and phone numbers for each of our staff members. They are eager to serve you.

Blog: For the first time, Deep River’s blog now appears on the website. This blog features posts from Pastor Scott Wagoner in addition to guest posts from some of our members. Contact Scott if you have questions, or would like to submit an item for the blog.

Looking back at deepriverfriends.com

In Nov. 2000, the first deepriverfriends.com was launched. Of the meetings within Deep River Quarter today, Deep River Friends was the first meeting to have its own website.

Through the years, our website has had many looks, but the mission remains the same – provide our community with an online gathering pace to discover what’s happening at our meeting and shed light on what it means to be Quaker in the 21st century.
